Taking Henkaa on Holiday: the Ultimate Beach Holiday Dress!

The Henkaa Convertible Maxi is a one-piece dress that can be styled in multiple ways - from sleeveless to one-shoulder to full-coverage, the options are endless! When I first saw the Henkaa dress (at Lotus Leaf's #PRESSDAYS),  I immediately fell in love with the vibrant colors, gorgeous material and elegantly draped design. I knew it would be the perfect piece to take on my week-long holiday to Turks & Caicos.

Why is Henkaa the ultimate beach holiday dress?
  • material - the poly/spandex blend is wrinkle-resistant, unbelievably easy to pack, machine washable - and so silky and beautiful!
  • versatility - SO many ways to style it - from a skirt to a dress, just change up your accessories and wear it to different occasions.
  • lightweight and comfortable - perfect for warmer climates

Here's the Henkaa dress in action on my holiday - I wore it 3 different ways:

Henkaa Dress worn in the Sandy, Necklace (Mine from J.Crew Factory), Button Down (Mine from H&M), Tan Wedges (Mine from Old Navy), Tote bag (Mine from J.Crew Factory)

Breakfast by the Beach - worn as a maxi skirt (instructions here) paired with a white button-down shirt.

Henkaa Dress worn in the Lola, Denim Vest (mine was DIY), Bubble Necklace (mine from H&M), Minkoff Bag, Tan Wedges (Mine from Old Navy)

Layers in the Afternoon - worn as a twisted halterneck (instructions here) paired with a denim vest and turquoise bubble necklace.

Henkaa Dress worn in the Annabelle, J.Crew Factory Necklace, Minkoff bag & Tan Wedges (Mine from Old Navy)

Dressed up for Dinner - worn in the classic halterneck tie (instructions here) with my crystal necklace for added sparkle. (As you can tell from the photo, it was a windy evening!)

For more information on Henkaa check them out on: their website / facebook / twitter / youtube. Also keep an eye out for my upcoming in-depth post on the Henkaa dress, including details of my visit to their showroom.

What is your favorite way of styling the dress?

DISCLAIMER: I contacted Henkaa after the #PRESSDAYS event and they kindly provided the dress for this post. I purchased the bandeau top myself.

Back from Beaches Turks & Caicos

We got back on Monday from Turks & Caicos.

It felt SO satisfying leaving snowy Toronto for beautiful turquoise waters and sandy beaches.

We stayed at the Beaches Resort - and fell in love with the gorgeous scenery and multitude of activities.

The resort was all-inclusive - with 19 restaurants to choose from, we had lots of yummy meals. I especially enjoyed the Teppanyaki at Kimono's restaurant (bottom left photo).

The lobby coffee machines were genius - unlimited lattes at the press of a button - and much yummier than Starbucks too!

We initially booked a room in the Caribbean Villa  (bottom left pic) but were upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite in the newly opened Key West Villas for the second half of our trip.

I loved hanging out on the balcony - so relaxing (getting cuddles from my son while he still lets me!).

We had an amazing time - we feel rested and recharged - and so happy to be back in snowy Toronto in time for a White Christmas!

Hope you have a wonderful Holiday season with your loved ones!

Quick Shopping Haul - J.Crew Factory, Le Chateau, H&M and Smart Set

Just a quick post sharing my latest purchases! Let's start with the FIVE (oops - how did that happen?) necklaces I recently purchased - there's definitely a gold and crystal sparkly theme going on here...

The J.Crew Factory store was having a 50% plus 15% sale - so I purchased the factory version of the Crystal Venus Flytrap necklace (for $26.57) and the Crystal Circle necklace (for $24.22). Love that they came with individual canvas bags - I've had a crystal Forever21 necklace fall apart recently, so I think careful storage is very important! The two necklaces on the top right are from H&M - I'm not happy with the studded one because it's missing 2 stones already (and I only noticed this now *sob*) but I love the other one - I've been wanting a gold tassel necklace (similar) for a while. The bottom left necklace is from Le Chateau. It reminds me of the blogger-favorite ZARA rhinestone necklace but slightly less chunky.

I definitely got the memo about 2014's Pantone Color of the Year - I've already purchased a shirt from Smart Set and a coin purse from Old Navy in Radiant Orchid! H&M was having a sale on their leather panel leggings ($15), so I thought I'd give the trend a try. Will be pairing it with a LONG sweater and black boots. I purchased the hot pink J.Crew Factory Colorblock Stripe Boatneck Tee back in March - and it's held up well through multiple washes, so I picked it up in Navy/Red as well. The black bow belt is from Le Chateau, and I found the fleece lined leggings for $3 at Dollarama - I'm always cold so I'm definitely excited to try these out!

Hope you liked my mini-haul! Do you like gold and crystal necklaces? Have you purchased anything in Radiant Orchid yet?

Let's go outside....

Attending SPARK Sessions was a priceless experience - I left with the desire to make my blog the best that it can be. One thing I wanted to focus on was improving my blog I got out the "big boy" camera and went outside. Here are my tripod photos of some outfits from this week:

Plaid & Fur:

Plaid Shirt: Garage, Vest: Express, Jeans: Garage, Booties: Old Navy (mine, similar), Necklace: Banana Republic

Tweed Seperates:

Necklace: Joe Fresh (similar), Jacket: Forever21, Skirt: J.Crew Factory (similar from J.Crew), Shooties: Old Navy (similar from Target)

These photos are far from perfect...there was a lot of scurrying and looking anxiously over my shoulder and worrying what the neighbours would think. And today I managed to knock over the tripod WITH the camera - I'm hoping no permanent damage was done, but today's photos turned out worryingly blurry - OOPS!

There will definitely continue to be a lot of mirror selfies on this blog (because SOMETHING is better than nothing, right?) but I will try to incorporate outdoor photos when I can!

Which do you prefer? Mirror selfies or outdoor outfit photos?

p.s. Do you like my new header?

p.p.s. Check out my sidebar - so excited that my blog has reached over 1 million pageviews - Thank you to EVERYONE who visits my site!

Out & About - Spring 2014 Previews #EXPStyle & #PRESSDAYS

Last week was quite busy - although it was freezing outside, my mind was in a different season as 2014 Spring collections were being previewed downtown.

The first event I attended was a cocktail party at the Spoke Club featuring the SS 2014 Express Preview (#EXPStyle).

So excited to meet Real Life Runway - I'd been following her on Instagram for ages! (Photo: Brill Communications)

It was fun catching up with other bloggers as we looked through the new Express collection and made mental shopping lists of our must-haves.

First on my list was this pink and orange leopard scarf - love seeing the classic print reinterpreted in such vibrant colors. The powder blue heels are another wishlist item...I don't know how often I'd wear them - but they're just so pretty to look at!

I adored the fringed heels and the gladiator/cage boots - definite statement pieces! There were also lots of pretty options for spring - from nautical stripes to polka dot hearts and dainty lace yokes - I'll definitely be trying these on in store!

Love their Office Decor! (Photo: Lotus Leaf)

On Tuesday I headed over to Lotus Leaf's offices to attend their SS14 #PRESSDAYS event.

It's always nice to be greeted at the door with cupcakes!

I was mesmerized by the watches at the WATCHIT booth. Rose gold and blush pink (my favorite colors!) will continue to be popular in spring, updated with variations such as blush pink leather and acetate wristbands. There is also a return to femininity in watch design, resulting in colorful faces and smaller, more bracelet-like options. How cute is the tiny rose gold Michael Kors watch with the fuschia face?

The Henkaa booth featured so many pretty variations of their Sakura Convertible dress - it's amazing that one dress can be styled in SO many different ways (shown here).

Hillberg & Berk had a wide range of mermaid-like jewelry with shimmering chains, crystals and semi-precious stones. I especially loved the tiny turquoise accents and the textured metal.

There was a MINKPINK tropical red floral print dress I could not stop thinking about - I feel like I need to take it on my upcoming beach holiday. Meanwhile, everyone on the press tour was cooing over the child-sized DR MARTENS and the mini-satchels - especially the little floral print boots. The MANITOBAH MUKLUKS were more in line with our current weather situation - I don't think there is anything cozier than wearing a pair of fuzzy warm boots on a frozen winter morning!

As we left the event, we were gifted with mink lashes (from ESQIDO), sparkly stud earrings (from Hillberg & Berk) and gift cards - so thoughtful and perfect for upcoming holiday parties!

I'm so excited that Rose Gold is here to stay! Which Spring trend are you most looking forward to?
