Jo Malone Orange Blossom Perfume, Chanel Rouge Noir Nailpolish & My Perfume Collection

Hubby travelled to England last weekend and I asked him to pick me up a Jo Malone perfume from the airport, along with Chanel Rouge Noir nailpolish (choosing gifts stresses hubby out LOL - he always prefers it when I tell him EXACTLY what I want).
Orange Blossom captures "the scent of clementine leaves in the morning dew sparkles above a heart of orange blossom and water lily". Choosing this perfume was a bit risky since I'd never smelled it before (and I'm VERY picky about perfume) but this is one of Jo Malone's most classic and popular scents - and (luckily) I LOVE it! It reminds me of a sweet citrusy baby cologne - but it has a lot of staying power, unlike most other delicate scents. I own a tiny bottle of Lime Basil & Mandarin (another HUGE love)...and now I'm curious to try Nectarine Blossom & Honey. Since Jo Malone sold her company to Estee Lauder in 1999, she isn't involved in creating new scents - so I prefer sticking to the classic blends as they are her original creations.
Here's Rouge Noir with the rest of my Chanel polishes. I don't know if you remember how popular Chanel's Vamp polish was in the 90s - Rouge Noir is the original color that was released under the Vamp name- a "dried blood" color that looks amazing on toenails in the summer and on short finger nails in the fall. Chanel has recently released another polish named Vamp - but it has a silvery shimmer that the 90's creme formula didn't have.
Here's a picture of my perfume collection. I prefer smaller bottles because I'm very picky about perfume, and I often get sick of a scent before I finish the bottle! But I love all these perfumes:
(Back row L-R):
Tea Rose by Shirley May - a random find at a perfume shop. Very strong and sweet rose scent, perfect for layering.
Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel - my "going out somewhere fancy" perfume
Weekend by Burberry for Men  - an addictive light lemon-y smell. I bought it for hubby and ended up keeping it for myself!
Jo Malone Orange Blossom
Chloe roll-on - very sweet and distinctive. If you like Coco Mademoiselle and Ms Dior Cherie, you'll love this. I'll definitely pick up the larger version of this once my roll-on is used up.
(Front row L-R):
Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin - another lemon-y light scent (often worn by men as well) - I love the freshness of this.
Angel by Thierry Mugler - so sweet and chocolatey. I prefer to use this for layering - especially with the Shirley May rose perfume.
Eau Savage by Dior - my third lemon-y men's cologne...notice a trend? Once this is finished I may pick up a larger size or try Aqua di Parma (a unisex citrus scent loved by Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn).
Lastly, if you missed out on the turquoise J Crew bubble necklace dupe from H&M, check your local H&M stores, they've just released a gorgeous red version (which I LOVE). I picked it up this weekend and have already worn it twice. Here's a picture of my turquoise one (and a link to J Crew's original version).
What's your favourite perfume? Do you own any of Jo Malone's perfumes?

  1. Squeal!!! I need the red version of the necklace! I wear the turquoise so much Ella, it's kind of ridiculous. Red will be stunning for fall. I'll have to take a looksy lol.

Love your perfume collection too. It looks so girly the way you have put it all together.

  3. I wanted to try one of the Jo Malone perfumes so I smelled them at all at the airport but I just wasn't sure so I didn't end up picking one up. Right now my favorites are Versace Bright Crystal and Tocca Colette. There are so many scents I love and certain ones where if I smell it I can go back in time haha and I love that. I love how memories are associated so much with smell. For example every time I smell Elizabeth Arden Provacative Woman I feel like I am in high school again because that was my favorite scent back then and it college it was Dior Hypnotic Poison and Kenneth Cole Black the first 2 years and J'Adore and Gucci Envy Me the next 2.

  4. Jennifer - it is really hard to choose a Jo Malone scent - especially because it takes a while for the scent to develop on your skin. The Jo Malone counter at a Toronto mall gave me quite a few samples to try at home...and that's how I discovered my love for Lime Basil & Mandarin. But I never thought to try Orange Blossom...I wish the JM counter was at a closer mall!!! (although I'm going to keep waiting for duty-free shopping to buy)

I used to like quite sickly-sweet smells in Uni...definitely not drawn to them at all now LOL! Old faves were: Versus by Versace, Lolita Lepicke (sp?) and Accenti by Gucci.

  6. A friend of mine got me the Orange Blossom Jo Malone scent and I love it! I'm a sucker for any kind of orange anything. I also have the J.Crew turquoise necklace (got a really great deal on it on eBay) and wear it constantly! I wish I had an H&M nearby, I'd pick up the red version!

  8. My very Malone scent! So pretty :) I didn't know that Chanel released a new Vamp - I loved the original and need to check it out!

  9. Katherine - Love your blog interviews - so interesting. Thanks for commenting :-)

I'm really loving the Orange Blossom scent, am wearing it every day :-) Do you layer it with anything else?

The Chanel Vamp thing is funny. From what I read, one polish has the original shade (Rouge Noir) and another has the original name but a slightly different color (not sure if the new Vamp was LE or not).

  11. Suki - the Pear and Freesia sounds gorgeous! I've also heard amazing things about the 24 Faubourg Hermes perfume, I'm going to have to spray it on the next time I'm at the perfume counter.
